So, I had avoided watching WKRP given the soundtrack issues. But, then the writers' strike happened, and I got hulu, and I figured, "What the Hell."

OMG, people, this show is amazing! I mean, yes, the hair and pants are rather dated. And, yes, I am only in Season 1.

But I'm watching this, and thinking, "This is even more of a direct line to Sports Night than MASH, even." And, yes, there are only the two female characters, but damned if the busty blonde isn't really well-written. The other is a bit, well, spunky, but I can hope she gets more interesting. She does kinda remind me of Willow, back in the day.

The writing and characterization would be well above-average (in quality and from a social perspective) today.

There's plenty of more episodes, but, after that, there had damn well better be fic.

I have no real intelligent comment, I just, well, WKRP likes carrots.

One of us! WKRP is one of the all time great shows. It's a shame the DVD situation is so convoluted. As for the music, there are places you can find the original versions of the eps, if you've the hankering, although the quality may not always be the best. I've been working my way through the first season, too, alternating with batches of WKRP eps with batches of Newsradio.

Bailey does come out of her shell eventually. The choice between Bailey and Jennifer is one of the major memes in male bonding situations. Comes up on Dodger Thoughts all the time. Given the chance, all right-thinking men would choose Bailey over Jennifer. A list of the best Bailey episodes.

Someday, I may go seek out the Right And Proper versions, but, for now, easy wins.

I'm now up to S1E17 (which is totally the Michael Jordan ep of Sports Night!)

Jennifer or Bailey is certainly a better choice than Mary Ann or Ginger. But I'm with you on Bailey being the way to go, even as much as I do like Jennifer.

I'll be watching all the eps, so I'll get to everything eventually (I'm a freaky completist, unless I break up with a show)
