I was taking Leah up to Baltimore, to get her on a Greyhound, since their system in teh crap.

We were driving up 95, when Leah says, "Oh My God, it's a dog." I look, and, yes, it is a dog. Walking down the median. "Ok," I say, "I'll turn around at the next exit and go back."

I turn around at the next exit and go back. The dog is now on this side of the road, and I'm scared that he's going to run away from me, out into traffic. Silly Abi. I get out of the car, and he comes trotting over. This is clearly a highly domesticated dog. He (I now know he's a he. And neutered, at that) is corgi-shaped, and German Shepherd marked and haired. I haven't yet found a picture on the Net that looks like him (eta: He looks something like this, the one on the bottom, and only adult with a darker head/neck/ears (which are even more giant)and a possibly-0cropped tail. Dense as Hell fur (as I told him, "You know what I was just saying? I really needed dog hair all over everything I own. Good thing you showed up.")

I open the back car door. He hops in. Clearly.

He then gets into the front, taking Leah's seat. She manages to get him more or less scooted over. We go back to Columbia, and get to the Petco just as it's closing. They, getting their animal karma for the month, let us go in and get a collar and leash. The clerk tried to give us a fee treat. He's apparently a princess, and would not take any of them. Walmart was closed, so no love on other stuff.

We also picked up a plain cheeseburger from McD's. He has very good manners.

So, went up to Baltimore, got beef ribs, dog food, shampoo, and Leah sent off.

Have now gotten home and bathed, both of us. He was also very well-behaved, possibly because he couldn't get over the side of the tub. He's been drinking, but hasn't touched the food or the rib (eta: Strike that. He's now done both). He's also very eager to strip out of his collar. I need to get him a harness (assuming I don't find him family. I'm calling around tomorrow).

[Poll #762220]
He was, up until a minute ago, sitting on my feet. Now he's over by the door. Yeah, I may have a dog.

Maybe he's just a big-ass corgi: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pembroke_Welsh_Corgi

Monty(?) is darker, but they do come in a similar pattern.
