Jul. 30th, 2005 03:18 amI wanted more icons. I am weak. And
spectralbovine was being a pressuring peer.
My spiffy new Burger Loa. I'll still be using him for when I dispense useless advice.
I like Elphie. Issues with the show aside, there's some great music and lyrics in it. And I really like Elphie.
At some point, this will become my default. But I'm not sure I like that text for it.
There is nothing like complaining about roommates and attempted brainwashing to make me feel like Rodney McKay, or, at least, that I'm being a whiny pain in the ass.
If I ever get around to thinking postable current events thoughts, I may actually get use out of this one.
I found seagulls!
Eventually, I'll make my journal pretty. Apparently, at some point, I'm going to be super-busy with the coloring an typing (did I mention brain-washing?), but that hasn't hit yet.
eta: I realize, looking at these, that they're all rather text-heavy, which makes sense, but I didn't really realize till I put them all in the same place. At some point I'll figure out what to do with Death to make an icon out of her.

Date: 2005-07-30 04:06 pm (UTC)I read the book before I knew the show, which is probably significant.
While I like that all the Witchhunters are connected to Elphie (as opposed to the book, where the scarecrow just doesn't work. It seems like Maguire thinks he's made him make sense, but just doesn't, IMO), it ends too patly. A little melancholy, but all tied up.
I also don't like how Glinda and Elphie end up, in their relationship. I adore "For Good" as a song, but, I think it's unfoundedly optimistic to get them to that point by the end.
And, really, the play just makes the World of Oz too small. That all these key events and people are in one class at one school, and almost completely in these two cities is too limiting. Tying it all back to Elphie is one thing, and makes her significant, but, in the show, it just makes life an extension of high school (or college, whichever).
