Why do you hate me, Rosie?

debetesseSo, I came upstairs this morning. At about 9:45 and turned on the tv, planning to grab a bowl of cereal, check b.org, and watch some tv before I started working.
Except that, on the screen, is the friendly little TiVo guy, on a yellow background, telling be that Rosie (my TiVo) is:
Preparing the service update.
This may take up to an hour. Possibly longer.
Ok. Fine. A little odd for 9:45 in the morning, but whatever. It's now almost noon. And it's still there. I can't get to TiVo central (even though the unit acknowledges receiving the remote signal).
I love TiVo. I have said nice things about it to many people. I have the sticker in my car window. Why does it hate me?
At least, on a positive note, it looks like I will be able to go to England, really and for true. Whoot, but tentatively
