Wow do I suck
Jun. 5th, 2004 05:40 amSo, it's Friday night (or, I guess, saturday morning), and b.org is slower than a thing that has died. After watching two really bad movies at a friend's house, I'm home to kill time till morning, so as to sleep when it is dark and be awake when it is light. A noble goal, IMO. Anyway, it turns out that I haven't been here in 6 months.
So, the short version of the past 6 months. I:
interned with the production department as Sesame Street.
critiqued resumes and cover letters of people who not only now have jobs, but will almost certainly make more money than me.
drove back and forth between Providence and Old Saybrook once a week, with a train-ride to New York on one side of each way.
went to the mostly-Buffistas-most-of-the-time V-Day.
decided that I really ought to be moving to NYC, and not LA, at least for the moment (I really, really don't want to give up my car, though.).
saw Assassins at Studio 54, and went backstage at same to see one of the actresses, with whom I was in a play almost 10 years ago (oddly enough, that show went to KC/ACTF regionals, where one of the other shows was Assassins.).
wrote my last final paper for the foreseeable future.
got 3 parking tickets in 2 cities.
watched the Angel Finale at Trudy Booth's place.
went to DC for the F2F (there is, for the most part, not much more that I could say on this subject [at least in public] than has been said by others far more eloquently than I could).
wore a corset in "public" for the first time.
walked 5 monuments/memorials in one night (including one I'd never seen before, and which had technically not opened yet.).
got over a thing that I thought would stick around a lot longer.
willingly gave up custody of my (shared) dog because it would be better for him if he lived with my now-former roommate.
graduated with a BA in Education studies (roughly 3 times. All in 1 day!).
grumbled at school groups touring Gettysburg.
did not kill my mother or either living grandparent (nor either of the dead ones, for that matter).
watched, among other things, a season and a half of FarScape, the first set of DVDs of Homicide:LotS, 4 episodes of Wonderfalls, Being John Malkovich, Eternal Sunshine, HPPoA, Rashomon, The Day After Tomorrow, Shrek 2, Timeline, Airport 77, High Fidelity, and Poolhall Junkies.
And, in the next week, I need to:
call people in NYC about work and housing.
move all the crap that came with me from PVD downstairs.
buy food and clean before graduation reception.
play paintball.
buy tickets to LA.
This whole jumping-into-being-a-grown-up thing sucks. I'd like to just get a letter in the mail that says, "Here is a suitable apartment that you can afford. Here is a job to get you started. These 6 restaurants are tasty and affordable." And I suddenly understand much of the attractiveness of those Wall Street jobs that so many people came in to get help applying for.
And that is my last semester in a nutshell. I can't promise that I'll do much better in the next 6 months, but after utilities, Internet is first on my priority list, so it may well be my primary source of entertainment.
