Shakespeare

Some of the kids are getting really into Willy S. I'm thinking they might like to do a movie day. I'm torn between doing a couple different Shakespeare-qua-Shakespeare, or a Shakespeare, and then an adaptation or two (eg: R&J, West Side Story; Shrew, Kiss Me Kate, and 10 Things)

Remember these are 9-12 year olds, but any suggestions for sets of 2-3 movies?

I like Shrew & 10 Things - there's a 70s production of Shrew from ACT that I think you could get your hands on - it's commedia dell'arte, and very fascinating.

Also, the Olivier & Branagh Henry Vs are good for compare & contrast.

There's also the Branagh Othello to go up against O - the Mehki Phifer/Josh Hartnett one.

For fun, there's Hamlet vs. Strange Brew, but that might be a little OTT for 9-12 year olds.

The Luhrmann R+J vs. Olivier or WSS.

Scotland PA vs. Hamlet vs. Ran.

I can go on, if you'd like....

Here's the A.C.T. Shrew. Frickin' brilliant.
