Dog, Part 2

I called around this morning, and his people had called Howard County Animal Control, so we met up and handed off.

His name was bear, and he's apparently quite the escape artist. I have a thought that he's likely under-stimulated (Corgi's are herders, so this is much like shepherds), but she seemed glad to have him back.

I took the rest of the dog food, and the rest of the stuff down to Animal Control. They seemed pleased, both that those had been his people and at the stuff.

Aww! No more dog. But yay for his people managing to get him back (though...did he have a tag? Is he a collar-escape-artist as well? Because really. I mena, I've known a few dogs who were, but I am highly suspicious of anyone who doesn't have tags on their dog)

No collar. He gets out of collars. And harnesses. Thick neck, short legs, and big brain.

The last time he got out, he ended up with a family who are friends with a corgi breeder, and they had him running the obstacle course.

I'm not convinced these people knew quite what they were getting into.

Toto used to be like that. Ugh. So glad he's calmed down. I was sure he was gonna run away, though, so I got him the chip.

Glad all turned out well. You're a good soul.

Yeah, I doubt this will be the last time this dog runs off. Hopefully, next time, he'll stay off the highway.

Me, too. Thanks.

They really need more gratitude before they take Abi's dog, dammit.

::pats head:: It really is better that I don't move to Colorado with a dog.

Well, TECHNICALLY...

If you see him again you don't have to give him back. Everybody knows this.

You are a good, good human. And, though it is also hard, it is nice when a critter's humans find them again. It gives me some faith in the bipeds. And did I mention that you are a good, good person? You are.

Thanks. It just seems like an "of course" thing to me (well, maybe taking him to a shelter if I wasn't able to have him, but, seriously, of course you pick up the dog.).

But, then, I'm the person who wants people's driver's liscences revoked for swerving to hit animals.
