My username is DebetEsse (pronounced deb-et-ess-ee), because it's the username I came up with when I first had to make up a username (actually, I think it was second..I had a series of Noises-Off-inspired Poppy IM handles). I was in a Latin class, and big into Man of La Mancha, so it's taken from "And maddest of all, to see the world as it is, not as it should be", which is part of a larger speech that I'm not sure I have with me. I should learn it sometime. I have yet to find anyone else with this username, which continues to please me.
My lj is titled "Abolith", from a mishearing I had of Matchbox 20's "Hang" The actual lyrics "Yeah, but if there's nothing there to make things change/ If it's the same for you I'll just hang" which I (just realized I further) misheard as "Abolith there's nothing there to make things change, if it's the same for you, why don't you just hang?" I realized it was a mishearing, as there had to be actual words there, but it's stuck as what I plan to name my house someday.
My lj subtitle is the quote referenced above. I suppose I could translate it into Latin for you, but I recall little grammar without going to my books

My default icon is from a little over a year ago, when I was living in LA, and Trudy came out, and she and MM and Aimee and I went out to the beach. I got my jeans well and truly soaked. Icon-wise, the only thing I wish was that I'd been wearing my necklace, which has become more or less a fixture for me. The words are from "Beat the Drum", by Great Big Sea. It was one of the albums I got when I was out in LA, and got me through the commute many times. I still adore it.
