Violence

I am really about thisclose to committing acts of violence, based on the wholesale demonization of tv in this training program. She's prefacing it as for kids under 6/7, but this is me staring at my computer screen and not engaging with the class.

Seriously "Sesame Street is the worst thing for kids". I'm gonna throw things.

"Sesame Street is the worst thing for kids"

whatthewhatthwewhat?

Is she on bad drugs? Without Sesame Street, half the people in this country probably wouldn't have learned how to read until eighth grade.

Yes. yes! Very yes. Her complaint with SS in particular was the short segments, which is actually not so much how they format it now.

People keep quoting this study about how any screen time is awfulhorribleworstthingever for little kids.

Man, I hate that kind of "it's all about the CULTURE!" snobbery.

Such total crapola, no matter who spouts it, or why.

So sorry! Eyes on the prize and all that. At least you're not buying into the bullshit.

Yeah.

Mostly, I needed to "gah!" somewhere, so I wouldn't do it in class (I gave up on trying to convince people in education classes that tv isn't the Great Satan years ago)

You have my full support if you want to go on a killing rampage. I doubt a jury would convict you on the merits of the case. Besides, there's that whole birthday exemption thing.

Happy birthday!

If I hadn't just worn it yesterday (therefore smelly), I'd so be wearing my Snuffy t-shirt tomorrow. Either that or make myself a "Bite me" shirt with the Count on it.

Thanks!

Acts of violence sound appropriate. I love Sesame Street, and still think it is a wonderful show for kids. No commercials, lots of diversity, and it is fun. Besides, my nephew knew all his Spanish numbers before the age of 2 thanks to Sesame Street. That can't be a bad thing, imho.

Happy Birthday!!!
